JOURNAL PRAETERNATURALOGICITY



ONLINE/PRINT/EXHIBITION




Journal Praeternaturalogicity (PNL) is a contemporary site of research for the (not-so) miraculous. It attempts to outline an uncertain ineffable action, describes an odd distance, and draws trace-relations between the unseeming. This journal acts as a collective recording of what disrupts our daily wayfaring.

As a media non-specific platform we look for hybrids between visual art, poetry, sound work, and long-form research. Through online rolling submissions (open soon), printed editions, and exhibition events; Journal PNL aims to host a variety of artists around central themes - or lack thereof.

Preternaturalogicities serves as an overly complicated word - threefold. 

[PRAETER]  meaning ‘past, beyond’.

[PRETERNATURAL] is the grey zone of what we deem as being not quite natural. It is:

“what happens rarely, but nonetheless by the agency of created beings ... Marvels belong, properly speaking, to the realm of the preternatural.” 

[LOGICITY] The “logicities” suffix brings it into a semi-contradictory zone of logistics, systems, cybernetics, etc.


A concept that hybridizes supernatural happenings and personal fictions to point to a sense of fantasy in the art world's abyssal sense of semiotic logistics. In linking false windows of causation, this research journal hopes to play with wavering senses of positivity - in all definitions.

In allowing a hyper-specified title to set the stage for certain points of classification, it creates an intentional contradiction between its sellable categorization (of being an “arts journal”) and its goal of having little to no categorization at all. Acting in ways where paraconsistent logic can be fleshed out through various lenses on a case by case basis.

However, its also self-aware in its wavering about-less-ness, and wants to act a little goofy sometimes.
